The World Health Organization for Afghanistan says that it supports and finances 130 treatment centers for malnourished children in different provinces of the country. This organization has written in a tweet today (Wednesday, 10th of June) that 28 health workers and 11 nurses in 12 hospitals in southern Afghanistan completed the training classes for treating children with acute malnutrition. The World Health Organization added that it currently supports 130 treatment centers for malnourished children throughout Afghanistan. Meanwhile, this organization announced in February this year that more than three million children and more than 800,000 pregnant and lactating women in Afghanistan suffer from severe malnutrition. However, Fran Ekiza, the representative of UNICEF or the United Nations Children’s Fund in Afghanistan, said that child labor in this country is increasing and many of them work in hard work, including working in mines and factories and on the streets. Mr. Ekiza had emphasized that since the situation in Afghanistan is extremely chaotic, the citizens of this country are struggling with humanitarian disaster, weather-related events and gross violations of human rights. Also, he warned of the increase in the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and said that it is estimated that 90% of the country’s population is on the verge of economic poverty, of which children are the most affected by this crisis. It should be said that with the dominance of the current government over Afghanistan, this country has plunged into a deep humanitarian crisis. Poverty and hunger have become more widespread and most of the domestic and foreign investors have left the country. Doctors specializing in women and children have also fled to different countries.
