Amnesty International is concerned about the current situation of women and girls in Afghanistan and says that removing women from society is a crime against humanity. This organization raised this issue on its Twitter today (Saturday, 13th of Gemini) and said that removing women from society is a crime against humanity and the current government should be held accountable for their war against Afghan women and girls. It is further stated that women in Afghanistan are harassed and tortured because of their gender. Amnesty International added: “Afghan women’s voices are silenced and their dreams are lost.” This organization emphasized that now is the time for the international community to stand by Afghan women and support them. Referring to the restrictions imposed by the caretaker government, Amnesty International clarified that Afghan women and girls are trapped in the corners of the current government’s laws. This is despite the fact that the current government last week in a letter to the organization’s committee to eliminate discrimination against women, denied all accusations related to the violation of the rights of Afghan women and girls and said that they pay special attention to this segment of the society. Also, while Amnesty International calls the action of the current government as a crime against humanity, it has been more than 600 days since the government has banned girls above the sixth grade from going to school. Also, the Ministry of Higher Education of the current government has prevented Afghan women and girls from studying in universities and educational centers. In addition, women are prohibited from going to sports clubs, restaurants, public baths, being examined by male doctors, traveling without Muharram, and working in domestic and international non-governmental organizations.
