A number of protesting women and the protest movement known as “Afghan Women’s Unity and Solidarity Protest Movement” say that the rulers of Afghanistan are against the development of the country and for this reason they do not allow Afghan women and girls to study. They held a protest program today (Wednesday, 10th of Gemini) in a closed space in Kabul. The members of the Afghan Women’s Unity and Solidarity protest movement have sent a video tape to Goharshad Media and said that the current government has also blocked private schools to stop the intellectual growth of women and girls. In this video, protesting women chant slogans “No to the terrorist government” and “No to the misogynist government” and addressed the international community to not recognize the current government. Also, the members of this movement pointed to the trip of the first female astronaut of Saudi Arabia to space and emphasized: “When an Arab Muslim woman can travel to space, why are Muslim women and girls in our country deprived of continuing their education?” In their protest program, they have asked whether the rulings of the current government are beyond the rulings of the Quran. Also, protesting women say that Afghanistan is a pit of literate girls. In addition to this, the members of this women’s protest movement, in part of their protest, criticize the weekly sending of 40 million dollars to Afghanistan and consider it a “betrayal of the rights of the deprived people” of the country. Meanwhile, these women are protesting and asking the international community not to recognize the current government, which for more than 600 days, the guardian government has banned girls above the sixth grade from going to school. Also, the Ministry of Higher Education of the current government has prevented Afghan women and girls from studying in universities and educational centers. In addition, women are prohibited from going to sports clubs, restaurants, public baths, being examined by male doctors, traveling without Muharram, and working in domestic and international non-governmental organizations.
